Is the GTA 5 Rental Shuttle Bus Worth It? A Player's Review (8 อ่าน)
24 ธ.ค. 2568 10:32
If you've spent any time around Los Santos International Airport (LSIA), you've probably seen the Rental Shuttle Bus sitting quietly in a parking lot. For most players, it's part of the background scenery, but it's a vehicle with some specific quirks and uses. This guide breaks down what it is, how it works in the game, and why you might—or might not—want to get one.
What is the Rental Shuttle Bus?
In short, it's a slow, bulky minibus based on real-world rental company shuttles. It's functionally identical to the Tour Bus you see driving tourists around, just with different paint jobs. Its primary role in the game's world is to add atmosphere to the airport. For players, it's a curiosity piece rather than a practical vehicle for getting things done efficiently.
Where Can You Find It?
In Grand Theft Auto V (Story Mode), you can almost always find one or two parked in the lots directly in front of the LSIA terminals. A useful tip is that these buses are rarely locked or have alarms, so you can just get in and drive away without attracting police attention. However, be cautious as the area is often patrolled by armed police officers. You might also rarely see one driving on the service roads around the airport runways.
In Grand Theft Auto Online, it's not a common spawn in freemode. Instead, you can purchase it from Warstock Cache & Carry for $30,000. Most players only buy it as a novelty to add to their collection, as it offers no real gameplay advantage.
How Does It Perform and Handle?
In general, the performance is exactly what you'd expect from a large shuttle bus: poor. Here’s a breakdown:
Speed & Acceleration: Both are very mediocre. The bus is heavy, so it accelerates slowly and has a low top speed. It's not a vehicle for chasing or escaping.
Handling: This is its weakest point. It has a very wide turning radius, suffers from significant understeer (meaning it doesn't turn as sharply as you steer), and has soft suspension that causes a lot of body roll in corners.
Durability: It's fairly tough. It can take a good amount of damage before the engine fails, and its weight allows it to shove smaller cars out of the way with ease.
Engine Sound: It has the low, rumbling diesel engine sound common to vans like the Burrito, which fits its character.
The interior is basic but has some details, like "Welcome to Los Santos" signage and FlyUS seat covers. It has two rows of seats in the back, allowing it to carry multiple NPCs or other players, though accessing these seats isn't animated—characters simply warp into them.
Are There Different Visual Variants?
The bus has two main liveries, but there's a catch:
Escalera Rent-A-Car: A white and yellow design. This is the only livery you will consistently see in the current versions of the game.
Touchdown Car Rentals: A blue and white design. This livery was completely removed from the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions with the Heists update. It can still be found in the original PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. This change is a common topic among players who delve into game asset trivia, and communities like U4N GTA 5 often discuss such version-specific details and oversights.
There's also an unused, roofless variant in the game files, but it cannot be spawned normally without mods.
What Are Its Practical Uses for Players?
Frankly, it has very few. Most players interact with it in one of three ways:
As a Temporary Armored Vehicle: In early-game Story Mode, its durability and ability to carry multiple characters can make it a decent, free option for causing mayhem or completing certain low-stakes missions where firepower isn't needed.
For Role-Play or Fun: Some players use it for impromptu bus driver role-play, giving other players rides in freemode. Its poor handling makes this a comical challenge.
As a Collection Item: In GTA Online, it's one of the cheaper unique vehicles you can store in a garage. Completionists might buy it just to own it.
Are There Any Known Glitches?
There is one consistent visual bug: the front side windows (driver and passenger) are always missing. This is due to a technical oversight where the permanent roof extra is incorrectly flagged, preventing the windows from spawning.
Should You Buy It in GTA Online?
For the vast majority of players, the answer is no. For $30,000, there are countless other vehicles that are faster, more agile, or more useful in missions. It is not modifiable at Los Santos Customs, so you cannot improve its performance or change its appearance. You buy it solely for the novelty factor. If you have money to spare and want a quirky vehicle to occasionally take out for a laugh, it can be a harmless purchase. Otherwise, your money is much better spent elsewhere.
