What targeting works best for Car Loan Ads in 2026? (4 อ่าน)

I’ve been experimenting with different ways to run Car Loan Ads, and honestly I’m still figuring out what targeting really works in 2026. A couple of years ago things felt simpler. You could just target people interested in cars or auto financing and get decent leads. Now it feels like everyone is competing for the same audience, and the results can be pretty inconsistent.
One issue I kept running into was spending money on clicks that didn’t really turn into actual loan inquiries. The ads were getting traffic, but not the right kind. At first I thought the creatives were the problem, but after testing different images and copy, it started to feel like the targeting itself was the bigger factor.
So I started trying a few different approaches.
The first thing that seemed to help a bit was focusing on intent based targeting instead of just interest targeting. People who were actively looking for car prices, dealership info, or loan comparisons seemed much more likely to engage with the ads. It’s not perfect, but the quality of traffic felt noticeably better.
Another thing I tested was location targeting. I noticed that narrowing ads to specific regions where car purchases are more active actually made a difference. Broad targeting across the entire country looked impressive in terms of reach, but the leads weren’t always serious. Localized campaigns seemed to attract people who were closer to actually buying a car.
Timing also seemed to matter more than I expected. Running ads during periods when people typically research purchases (evenings and weekends in my case) seemed to bring slightly better engagement. It’s not a massive difference, but when you’re testing ads every small improvement counts.
While trying to figure this out, I also spent time reading different strategies and guides from people experimenting with loan campaigns. One guide that helped me understand the bigger picture of how Car Loan Ads are structured was this one. It breaks down different ad formats and targeting approaches in a pretty simple way.
Something else I learned the hard way is that over targeting can hurt too. When I stacked too many filters together, the campaign barely got any reach. Finding the balance between broad and specific targeting seems to be the real challenge.
Right now my approach is basically testing smaller audience segments and adjusting slowly based on what actually converts instead of what looks good on paper. It’s definitely more trial and error than I expected.
I’m curious though—has anyone here found a targeting method that consistently works for Car Loan Ads, or is everyone still experimenting like I am?
