The RM47 watch features gold samurai armor and swords meticulously hand-engraved and painted by the husband-and-wife team of Pierre-Alain Lozeron and Valérie Lozeron. Each piece requires 16 hours of engraving, followed by 9 hours of hand-painting. The armor is crafted from 3N gold and incorporates elements of the Asano clan. Many scholars believe the Asano clan symbolizes the true spirit of Bushido. Each clan has its unique crest; the Asano clan's crest is two crossed falcon feathers, symbolizing power and authority in war. This motif is cleverly used on the tourbillon at 6 o'clock and the winglets of the samurai helmet. The manual-winding RM47 movement is flanked by armor; from the front, its scabbard protects the movement like a samurai sword. The hour and minute hands are crafted from Grade 5 titanium alloy, a material commonly used in aerospace, and feature a black PVD coating.

The RM47's case is tonneau-shaped and employs a three-piece construction, consisting of 3N gold case sides, a black TZP ceramic bezel, and a case back. This embodies one of Richard Mille's signature characteristics—past, present, and future—the perfect fusion of centuries-old watchmaking craftsmanship and philosophy with cutting-edge technology and materials. But at its core lies the ancient tranquility and self-discipline of the samurai, and the craftsmen involved in its creation seem to have adopted a Zen-like attitude towards the entire project: “The spiritual aspects and the values ​​associated with the samurai world are not unfamiliar to us.
